When Children Feel Good they Do Good

LEGO®-Based Therapy

LEGO®-based therapy was developed to support children who benefit from structured, collaborative play to build social communication skills. It uses shared building activities to support turn-taking, cooperation, problem-solving and social engagement in a predictable, motivating way.

While LEGO®-based therapy was originally developed to support autistic children, it has since been used more broadly with children who experience social communication differences or benefit from highly structured play.

Group or individual therapy?

LEGO®-based therapy is most commonly delivered in small groups, where children work together in defined roles to build a shared model. This structure supports collaboration, communication and shared attention.

At present, Connected Kiddos does not run group LEGO®-based therapy programs. In some circumstances, LEGO®-based therapy may be offered individually, particularly for children who find group settings overwhelming or who are exploring whether this approach is a good fit.

HOW LEGO®-BASED THERAPY IS USED AT CONNECTED KIDDOS

When LEGO®-based therapy is used at Connected Kiddos, it is adapted to suit the individual child and family. Caregivers are invited to participate alongside the child, creating a small, supported “team” with shared roles such as builder, engineer and supplier.

As with all therapy at Connected Kiddos, the focus remains on connection, regulation and relationship — with LEGO® used as a structured tool to support engagement and interaction, rather than as a standalone intervention.
